An early start for a fantastic cause

On Saturday 9th of May, staff from Emerald Truck & Van got their walking boots on to take part in the annual “Darkness into Light” Walk in aid of Pieta House.
Starting at 4.15am and crossing the finish line just as dawn is breaking, the 5km walk took place at 80 venues across Ireland including The Naas Racecourse where the Emerald team took part.
Frank Scanlon, Operations Director at Emerald was one of those to put their best foot forward on the day;
“Pieta House is a wonderful organisation providing much needed support for those suffering self-harm and suicidal distress. They’ve welcomed over 18,000 people into their nine centres since they opened nine years ago and that’s a big ask for the one hundred and eighty staff working there.
Events such as this provide vital funding to keep their services going and it’s a fantastic organisation that is well worthwhile supporting – we’re delighted to do so by taking part in the Walk”
Frank took to the challenge at Naas with Emerald colleagues Eimear O’Flynn, Emmet Mooney and Chris Ennis while Phoenix Park was the starting point for Pat McDonnell who led the fundraising efforts and got the Emerald Workshop staff to come on board. Eimear added;
“The Emerald staff have been very supportive of Pieta and have raised €500 between them for this walk. As part of our Community and Charity activity which is managed by our CSR committee, Emerald are happy to match this and we’re delighted to be able to donate €1000 to this very worthy organisation”
